The Manhood Development Institute
The Stayin Alive Project - "the most important thing in life is: Life!"
"Before any of our young men can be coached or mentored in the principles of manhood, they must first - Stay Alive!" This project is MDI's response to the recent national crisis and tragedies of the shooting and killing of young urban males by police and by each other! The goal of this project is to "help stop the violence, and save lives by teaching young men how to interact, not react during encounters with police officers. Nationally 1 in 3 to 6 young urban males between the ages of 15 and 35 are arrested or detained by police, at some point in time.
Secondly, and more importantly, is to teach them to value "life", by learning how to avoid crime, drugs, violence. During the next 6 months, we plan to conduct 12 workshops in metro Atlanta and Alabama. The schedule, location and time of each workshop will be posted on this site at least one month in advance.
We plan to enroll up to 10 young males from each Stayin Alive session in our year long MDI mentoring program.
